Dear Body, I promise I’ll be better tomorrow…

This is what I have been saying to myself since Thursday. It really truly was a holiday weekend full of indulgences (of the solid & liquid variety), relaxation, sun, great friends & lots of laughter. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the Canada Day long weekend 🙂


*Amazing pizza + beer at Terroni (not to mention my beautiful company!) The pizza was made with gorgonzola, prosciutto, pear, walnuts + drizzled with honey. Heaven.


*A day hanging out with my mama, including Mike’s Hard Black Cherry Lemonade + spinach salmon salad on the Remy’s rooftop patio. Ugh I love summer!


*Two days spent at a beautiful cottage where there literally wasn’t an ounce of stress in sight. Ahhh. THANK YOU, Jason!






*A holiday bbq to finish off the weekend right!



I absolutely LOVE loosey-goosey weekends like this with fluid plans and a ton of hanging out & enjoying the company of best friends. Ahh sigh. This weekend wouldn’t be approved by my “healthy” self, however, as I became very close friends with many bags of potato chips. The weekend was full of beer, wine, potato chips, cupcakes, roasted marshmallows, ice cream and burgers. I’m happy to say that “greens” of some variety did make an appearance, though, as I made sure to bring up salad to the cottage + pack some healthy items (as did the rest of our gang)! My whole philosophy on these kinds of weekends is that you HAVE to absolutely enjoy all the delicious treats and know that you’ll be on track and back to normal as soon as the holiday is over. There’s no use in stressing out or worrying or even denying yourself the foods and treats you love most .. you only live once!

  1. Looks like a great weekend! I feel the same way, you can’t stress out about being healthy on vacation when you’re having fun with family and friends. I just remind myself that in general I try to be healthy, so a few days of indulging won’t hurt!

    Great site you have here! I am definitely temped to indulge on holiday weekends, especially when I’m in my hometown with family and friends I only see a couple of times/year. I try my best to keep a daily balance, so if I want to indulge, I’m cognizant of the trade offs (I’ll be sure to workout that day, knowing I’m on the town with girls later in the evening, or have really healthy meals if I want some apple pie for dessert!).

    Getting back in the swing of things isn’t so tough for me if I’m back to my daily life. When I’m on schedule with work and school, I find the healthy habits just follow suit. It’s those days I have off from school/work that I have the toughest time getting back on the wagon, and I have to really push myself to do the healthy thing. Remembering how much better I feel when I’m eating right/working out helps!

    Terroni was great! The patio was awesome. In response to your questions, I try to eat fairly healthy when away for a weekend or on vacation. I will try to be more moderate in my intake of unhealthy foods, but still enjoy them. Reason being, I find it takes a few days for my body to actually ingest the food (and drinks!) which leaves me feeling the side effects during the week.


    • Yesss.. I’m still paying for my misbehaving this past weekend. Ugh. Can’t wait for Friday!! / at the same time, I’m not looking forward to it because it means you’ll be goneeee 😦
